Long gone are the days of obscurity and lack of recognition for the Online Grinder. Infesting every World Class Poker tournament, infiltrating the highest stakes cash games available, and dominating the green felt with dexterity meritorious of even the most astute of Poker Royalty, the Online Grinder has changed poker utterly, forever.
And this new ambitious crowd is suspiciously young. With an estimated median age of only 26, it isn't surprising to me that it has taken this long for one of us to get off our lazy derriere to create a song about our degenerate ways…
“It all started one day when I was on a sick heater against this one guy”
Bing Blang Blaow started out as a simple thread on 2+2 forum where Ch3ckRaise, a $50NL heads up ninja, wrote about his ritualistic taunting of his opponents after felting them. "It all started one day when I was on a sick heater against this one guy," Ch3ckraise told me during our phone interview. "I was absolutely destroying him in a $50 No Limit Heads Up match, must have stacked him at least 6 times. And every time I cleared him out, just to get under his skin, I'd type in, 'BING BLANG BLAOW, CH3CKRAISE IN THA HOUSE, I JUST WON $50.00 FROM YOU U COULD HAVE USED IT TO BUY SOME FOOD, BUT YOU CANT NOW CUZ IMMA CASH IT OUT AND RUB IT ON MY TITT1ES.' I literally just made it up on the spot! Interestingly, every subsequent buyin he would play more aggressive against me and make all kinds of stupid plays. I guess he just wanted to BING BLANG BLOAW me back. It didn't happen and I ended up stacking him a few more times! I haven't seen him in months. Admittedly, it was so deviously immature, so brilliantly tilting."
It didn't take long for Ch3ckraise's new thread to catch fire and inch its way into the mass consciousness of the Online Poker world. After stumbling across the forum post, Drybes immediately came up with the idea of creating a song based on the ample rhymes inherent in the taunting jingle. Gathering inspiration from the original forum post and other people's responses, he adeptly transformed Ch3ckraise's satirical heckles into a full fledge song he singlehandedly composed and recorded.
“It wasn't until I heard Barry Greenstein mention that he was going to try to Bing Blang Blaow someone on High Stakes Poker did I understand the scope at which the song had spread!”
"The first version of the song, 'Cash Out – Bing Blang Blaow,' was something I did strictly for fun, so I didn't pay too much attention to sound quality or any of that stuff" Drybes explained. "It wasn't until I heard Barry Greenstein mention that he was going to try to Bing Blang Blaow someone on High Stakes Poker did I understand the scope at which the song had spread! Furthermore, I was surprised after several references to Bing Blang Bloaw and my song were made on 2 Months 2 Million, the Online Poker reality show that airs on G4. It seemed overnight, Bing Blang Blaow had become a certifiable phenomenon!"
As per the suggestion of other 2+2ers, Ch3ckraise and Drybes have re-mastered and recreated "Cash Out – Bing Blang Blaow," adding new and entertainingly clever verses jam-packed with insights only an Online Poker player could fully appreciate. I have listened to the new remix several times now and I am absolutely convinced it will become the official Grinder's Anthem.
