Brian Hastings Steamrolls Isildur1 for $3.2 MM

By Patrick Wallace - December 9th, 2009

Brian Hastings sent Isildur1 plummeting back into the red on Tuesday evening in the latest high stakes action on Fulltilt. They began their session by playing 4 tables of $500/$1000 PLO when Isildur1 eventually persuaded Brian to play 6 tables, a move Isildur1 would come to regret as Brian finished the 5 hour session $3,234,543.20 better off.

Brian hit a runner runner to win a big pot, betting all 3 streets to set Isildur1 all in. The flop brought air for Brian but the turn gave him numerous straight and flush outs. The river cooperated filling Brian’s straight and winning him a $505k pot.

Brian’s good luck continued when he put all his chips in on the turn with a straight draw and bottom pair. Isildur1 had flopped a two-pair and caught a bigger one on the turn but the river once again filled Brian’s straight to take down the biggest pot of the session worth $683k.

Isildur1 attempted a creative bluff that back-fired as Brian called down all 3 streets with his J high flush that he hit on the turn. It looked like Isildur1 was trying to take advantage of the fact he had the Ace flush card, and was hoping Brian would have to fold without having the nuts. It was not to be and Brian won a $402k pot with a good call.

Isildur1 won the 2nd biggest pot of the session when he flopped middle pair with the nut flush draw and moved in against Brian’s top two-pair. Isildur1 turned a higher two-pair then rivered the flush to win a $608k pot.

Brian Hastings is certainly proving that he too has the medicine for Isildur1’s style as he peaks no.1 in worst enemies to Isildur1’s bankroll.

  7. rocknrolla avatar rocknrolla says:

To majikstik: You are the idiot. If you check Isildur’s PTR you see that he went from somewhere around 200k to 5 million… And If FT really was trying to set up a marketing campaign, the player’s name wouldn’t be Isildur1. It would be something inconic, memorable, and wouldnt have a number in it obv! lmao, you fucking noob.

  8. OMGIMONTILT avatar OMGIMONTILT says:

u guys are fkn idiots all of you mfkrs..

  9. majikstik avatar majikstik says:

rocknrolla: so you are stupid enough to believe FTP would play under a name that would be ‘inconic, memorable, and wouldnt have a number in it obv!’ are you that stupid? why would people wanna play against a FTP account it would be a superuser you idiot!!!

Please don’t use MM to mean million. M makes much more sense, MM is ambiguous and is not used to mean million in most of the world.

  11. matou avatar matou says:

it’s not 3.2m, according to news on cardrunners it was 4.18m !!!!

  12. Hightimez avatar Hightimez says:

Haha funny trolls. Let’s sign Durrr with FTP and then set his roll on fire via a marketing stunt.

  13. R1 avatar R1 says:

Isildur is obviously a person. And he beats Durrrr because he pwns him NL, as he does against everyone. It is a reason that all the other FTP pros denied to play him NL….
Too bad Isildur1 didn’t stick to NL. My guess is that he will be back in a couple of months time waiting on NL for some of the other “good” players. Durrrr and Ivey obviously crush all the other people on 500/1k because none of the other ones there are good NL players.

25/50 players on stars would have an edge in the 500/1k games on ftp, as long as Durrrr, Ivey and Antonius isn’t sitting in. Isildur1 is beyond any discussion the best HU-NL player at this point and will continue crushing Durrrr over time if they continue playing 500/1k NL only…

  14. R1 avatar R1 says:

Like, there is a reason that both Antonius and Hastings denied NL action against him. Joke@everyone that thinks this was a ftp stunt

Tell me what u think of this notion and feel free to call be a fucking donk fool for it….lol or provide some useful opinion, but I feel that Isildur is very similar to Martonas, maybe not the same player but the same staker. Martonas was supposedly Jonas Danielsson backed by Martin De Knijff, but that plan went to shit real soon and Martonas crashed at 2.5m and disappeared. Almost within two weeks, Isildur showed up a FTP and started playing 25/50 before hitting the nosebleeds. I bet Isildur is just Martin De Knijff staking another top Swedish player like Viktor Blom or something. Big theory I know. But if you remember back when Martonas started he went right to the rail heaven games, but maybe this time Martin wanted a little bit of a trial run at 25/50 before he sent his player to the top. Whatever the identity Isildur, without a doubt, he is one of the best NL HU player it the world. But I bet the reason he was able to crush Dwan so bad was the hand histories he was able to study from the old Martonas account.

  16. Enzo0383 avatar Enzo0383 says:

Also…to everyone thinking this is a FTP marketing stunt. Can I ask how all this fake action would bring people in? You really think some new fish are gonna wanna start playing cuz some guy lost 7 mill in like 20 days? LOL…Shit…if anything those kinda stories keep gambling noobs away from poker thinking the game will only end up with you going broke. Plus to all the people who even care about all this high stakes online shit, FTP knows that if your following than they’re probably all ready getting your rake LOL

    Amen to that

i seriously doubt the J6xx hand from isuldur was a bluff (where hastings has 75dd). He does alot of very thin valuebetting and i think this one qualifies as such

hes names after a harry potter character the guy is more than likely staked to be losing like he is
