On Tuesday, January 12, 2010, the small nation of Haiti was devastated by a 7.0 magnitude earthquake.
According to most news sources , the death toll is expected to be in the tens of thousands. Among the building the collapsed as a result of the quake and the following aftershocks included hospitals, schools and housing complexes. The United Nations said 16 U.N. personnel were confirmed dead and between 100 to 150 U.N. staff members were missing. Prime Minister Jean-Max Bellerive predicted that the death toll could reach 100,000 in the coming weeks.
United States President Barak Obama stated, “We have to be there for them in their hour of need.” He has promised a full scale humanitarian effort and asking for civilian emergency teams to respond to the requests for help. The refugees in Haiti face an increase risk of dengue fever, malaria and other diseases usually contained in normal circumstances. These problems already faced the impoverished country before the devastation. Now with key resources such as power and water offline, the worst might be yet to come.

Awesome idea but it’d help if you tell us which charity the funds are being sent to. Some charities are better than others.
Oops. My bad I didn’t realize Mercy Corps was the charity. I thought they were the ones that sent the money to a charity.
