you forgot mom and pop’s
you forgot Monaco.
bladouc you probably were on the northeast of the country, you gotta go to the south, the most beautiful girls in Brazil are from the southern states.
I like the New Zealand shout, but what about Switzerland ? Central to most EPT events, great scenery, chance for extreme sports, good roads to drive your super-car on, Lewis Hamilton lives there to escape tax… so tax on winnings might be minimal if any, good banks too.
Article kind of sucked really. No elaboration on the quality of life score.
What’s the legal status of poker in Thailand? Thought it was pretty illegal there and you don’t want to get on the wrong side of the law there. Monaco is disgusting, overpriced, overcrowded and unless you’ve got mega-bucks you’ll be living in a tiny apartment with no view of anything. UK is tax free, ok weather’s not great but apart from that everything else is pretty good. There’s other tax havens such as Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Bahamas. Dubai’s an option, but a bit too artificial and too much desert but you’ll be able to get somewhere nice to live.
I was thought about the Bahamas. Literally no income taxes. That is always a big one for me.
Thailand is good for me – where else can I rent a 3 bed-roomed house for $100 a month.
Have a great night out for $50 – including great food, drink, entertainment.
The UK, you silly people.
you forgot RUSSIA
and quebec
Malta has virtually no beaches. You’d better put France now they legalized the online pokers.
NZNZNZ: I sought the advice of several accountants early last year. They all told me that it would be extremtly risky to not be paying tax. If i was to get audited in say 3-4 years it would be pretty easy for the IRD to prove that this is my profession…..its pretty hard to explain 2-300k a year as lucky gambling.
NZNZNZ: just another note. I play 100% cash games for a living so its not like I can say i just got lucky in some big tournament
These articles are laughable as most PTR articles are…. can someone with a brain please write an article in the future, if you are an american citizen it does not matter where you live you still have to pay taxes on the money you win online… so why not just live in an american city… also can ptr hire someone who actually can play poker to write other articles I am sick of looking at this dribble.
If I was Durrr or Ivey…I’d BUY my own damn Island, renounce my US citizenship and have booze, fishy poker players, and hot chicks flown in every few days. You can use satellite for internet connection…viola, THE place to live.
what about vegas
I actually liked the article idea a lot! However, as some have posted…more elaboration and tax code stuff! This would be suuuuper useful!
No, you all are wrong because the best place in Earth is Azerbaijan

The reason I have been explained as to why the Australian (and possibly other) government doesn’t want to charge tax on poker winnings is because if they charge YOU tax as a winning player, does that mean all the losers out there can claim tax deductions on their losses? I think the claims for losses are going to far outstrip the revenue brought in by charging the winners.
And you could start putting a whole lot of business expenses as tax write-offs… Mmmm, governmental rake-back ;oP
It could be done but I think for now, they recognise that it’s not worth the hassle.
How far does the USD go in New Zealand, Malta, and Austria?
If you write an article about something as interesting at this, you could at least try to put some interesting stuff in. Now it seems like the writer just had to write something because….something had to be written or something? Great potential for this article, great and interesting subject, article itself is a joke.
I don’t normally comment on anything on this site. I actually made an exception for this.
Many of the Scandis/Dutch who don’t want to pay tax have moved to Ireland.
No taxes on winnings, Western culture (obv), English as the main languages, good leisure, entertainment and nightlife options, low crime, fifth highest quality of life in the world, sixth GDP per capita. Climate not as bad as people think everyone thinks either: summer not great but mildest winter in Europe.
Im pretty sure if u gave this assignment to a well educated 4th grader he/she could come up with this kind of material (and with better pictures obv) within 15 minutes on the web… well done.
At least in Sweden we live in EU and as long as the pokersite is within EU borders the poker winnings are tax free under EU law.
Well…i would say south of portugal – Algarve….great weather all the year, good nightlife, great beaches, not that expensive, very safe and nice people that mostly speaks english….and i never paid a buck from my incomes in poker!
South of spain..south of france, italy, croatia or greece woulda be good options i think
I portuguese so im a bit suspect.
Um mm How bout the United States Of America? Yea Online Poker is somewhat illegal kind of all I know is I play online with no problems. Also as taxes goes I’m not sure bout you But there is just something that does not feel right leaving a huge Bank-Roll online. I will never leave more than 10k in my account how these players can sleep at night leaving 3,4,5 Million Dollars on a online poker site well that’s sick what happens when you wake up one day all excited bout a session the nite before making a nice score making your BR up to 3 Million you turn your PC on click on the site you play on and BOOM! Site is down or ”frozen”. Now at Least playing in a live game Casino or a social club at least whatever you win that night you get to go home with it instead of having to stare at it in virtual world. And B.S. it takes only a few days for your money to arrive try it takes 3 days for the site to process it then mail or whatever it takes at least 10 days then another 10 days to clear. Now anything over 10k in a Casino in the U.S. you must pay taxes on well that’s why you cash your chips out for 9k at a time and if you play in a backroom somewhere a private game win whatever you want and never have to pay taxes. Bottom Line is I am good living In the U.S. having the option to play online and live what good is having 10 Million if you can’t do anything with it besides look at it play with it and most likely lose most of it instead of having instant access to it and being able to invest with it.
erm taxes jal? You mentioned taxes then went on about how it’s not safe keeping large amounts of money online. Play poker in US and you get raped on taxes and if you play live try explaining to the IRS the flows of money and that ferrari you have sitting in front of the house.
where the fak is the article then??only madderfkn comments!!!!!!!!!!!
