Upcoming Changes to PTR

By dave - May 5th, 2010

Premium NewsWell, the secret is out. PokerTableRatings is launching a premium service. If you’ve been lucky enough to get in on the initial beta test group you’ve seen a lot of what is coming. If you haven’t gotten in on the beta yet, don’t worry, we will be adding more beta users soon.

By adding a premium service our goals were simple: To add all of the advanced features that you guys have been knocking down our doors for, while still allowing casual users to access what PTR has to offer.

When the Premium Beta is over, there will also be a reasonable per day search limitation for standard searches that separates out casual users from power users; these numbers are derived from actual search counts. The idea is that a user who just checks PTR casually for entertainment will continue to use the site for free, and a user who is doing many searches should help to offset the cost of keeping PTR running.

We basically want to allow our hardcore users to get additional functionality, while still keeping things free for the casual user. If you want the cool new premium features or search the site heavily, you’ll have several options including two membership levels, and a pay-as-you-go model. On the other hand, if you don’t care about any of that and are happy with a few searches a day, nothing will change.

So what’s next?

Well, a lot more testing for now. Our second round of invites just went out; each of our initial beta testers has a few invites to give out to their friends. We’re really excited to hear what you guys have to say!

Yah this site has been fun but its getting worse and worse you clearly have a really bad influence on online poker. Hopefully somebody takes you down.

  2. jglsd avatar jglsd says:

You should be able to search yourself for free.

  3. LuckyGeorge100 avatar LuckyGeorge100 says:

Please charge for PTR, I think it should be at least $100 per month, it is an awesome service.

  4. pcboi avatar pcboi says:

make it expensive. that’ll show us

Making people pay for this seems lame. Def wouldn’t like to see that go through because from what I have heard you giving out way too much info unrightfully about players. Hopefully the sites battle against you on this one. Not a fan

if PTR will charge premium users for their searches and detailed info on players it is just ok. It will still be a powerful tool 4 limited group of players. Not 4 all I hope. And yeah, make it at least 70$+ a month pls

This might actually help me play more poker. No more searching myself 20 times per day!

yeh I see the fun in this as a free service… another way to politely say were cashing in because we want more than what the advertising offers… my biggest problem is that you are charging for information that is not complete, and there are many many holes in your datamining…. in my opinion this should be addresses before ‘new features’. but I guess you guys know your market and hype sells way better than substance. GL

Turbojenks is the first person to make a good point. The data your paying for is not complete. Poker Table Ratings even says 95% of hands- still good but you should not charge for data that isnt completely accurate. I also think a player should have the rights to have there stats hidden if they choose, just like offical poker rankings. You could learn a lot from that site

I can understand PTR wanting to make a profit, but they should be very careful as to how much they charge for using their service. For instance if they charge too much, then the only players able to afford it would be players that are winning already, thereby limiting use by lessor skilled players. Having this happen would only give good players an unfair advantage and would make PTR almost an accomplice to cheating. If that does happen we should petition our gaming websites to ban the use of PTR all together. Power to the people!

I agree with turbojenks as the data is not accurate, I say this because I have done 3 searches on myself last three days and I have dramatically improved my bankroll during this time and these results are not shown and the graphs have not changed as well as the info. The site is awsome to keep track of your poker play and so forth but the data needs to be exact in order to start charging for heavy use. Also I hope the fees are not extortionate as I will be digging elsewere for the info I need.

    Best wishes regardless.

just keep the things the way are now and charge for premium but dont limit the number of searchs per day and everyone will be happy.

and also invite me for the beta!: )

  16. LikeICare avatar LikeICare says:

    @a_drios

they are not going to charge a lot, those guys that says ”make 100$ per month” are just a bunch of retards proud to make 0,4bb/100 at nl100. I’d be very, very impressed to see a price higher than 9~18$.

  17. TLN avatar TLN says:

obv only charge for premium stats
