In the early going of August, akqqak has jumped out in front of the pack at 25/50 NL. The iPoker heads-up specialist started the month off strong with a 1,300-hand session on Aug. 1, pulling in more than $53,000 during two and a half hours of play.

| piejay1 | iPoker | $33,924 | 1,059 | 32.03 |
A good chunk of these winnings came in this particular hand, where akqqak turned top trips and got it all in. As of this writing, akqqak sat with $57,837 in winnings for the month and a 16.66 BB/100 winrate over nearly 3,500 hands.
In second place was test456789, who also had a good start to August and sat with just over $43,000 as of this writing. Fortune was on the PartyPoker regular’s side in this hand, when he got it all in with AK against KK and ended up making Broadway on the river.
And just behind in third place was jungleman12, one of the most feared heads-up players online and the most recent person to accept the Durrrr Challenge. The bulk of jungleman12’s winnings in August so far came from a heads-up session on Aug. 2 in which he scooped several big pots from Ashton “theashman103″ Griffin, including in this hand, where jungleman12 flopped a pair of queens in a 3-bet pot and got it all in on the flop against JJ.

| Player | Site | Net | Hands | BB/100 |
| Klo44 | Party Poker | $33,039 | 2,241 | 36.86 |
| Sauce1234 | Full Tilt | $29,575 | 574 | 128.81 |
| BrightGreenPoop | Full Tilt | $25,971 | 1,820 | 35.67 |
| IronmanWI | Full Tilt | $23,467 | 1,997 | 29.83 |
| SoloTalent2 | Poker Stars | $19,492 | 1,725 | 28.25 |
At 10/20 NL, Klo44 was out in front early thanks mainly to a 2,000-hand heads-up session on Aug. 2 which netted him more than $35,000. The PartyPoker regular got into a few interesting spots during that stretch, including an aggressive pre-flop battle in this hand, where he 4-bet shoved with A6 of spades and got called by KT of spades before any community cards were even dealt. After the board played out, Klo44’s ace-high was good enough to claim the $4,600 pot.
A very brief bit of play at 10/20 NL was enough to put Sauce1234 in second place for August so far. The Full Tilt grinder scooped nearly $30,000 in a single heads-up session on the first of the month. A good chunk of that cash came from some tricky play in this hand, in which Sauce1234 3-bet AK out of position preflop, fired a continuation bet on the flop, then checked the turn and river, inducing his opponent to turn a lowly pair of fives in to a bluff-shove.
And in third place was BrightGreenPoop, who sat with nearly $26,000 in monthly profit as of this writing. That mostly came from a long heads-up session on Aug. 1, in which the Full Tilt regular earned more than $16,000 over nearly 1,700 hands of play. One of the bigger pots came in this amazing hand, where BrightGreenPoop got it all in with AK of hearts against his opponent’s JJ pre-flop and looked like he had lost the coinflip when the flop came out J66. Incredibly, though, the turn brought the ten of hearts and the river the queen of hearts to complete BrightGreenPoop’s royal flush and send him the $7,400 pot.

Meanwhile, at 5/10 NL, thaaxis was out to an early lead in August with $27,500 in profit so far. While primarily a short-handed player, this Full Tilt grinder is no stranger to heads-up games and it was there that he made a big chunk of his money this month. In a 1,600 hand heads-up session on Aug. 3, thaaxis, pulled in nearly $17,000, thanks largely to hands like this one, where he 3-bet pocket eights preflop, made a set on the flop and tightened up by the river.
In second place was mbolt1, who rode a series of solid early-month sessions to nearly $20,000 in profit for August so far. And in third place for August as of this writing was thaaxis. The Germany-based PartyPoker player had earned nearly $19,000 over 7,000 hands of heads up play so far this month, mainly from one marathon session on Aug. 2 in which he netted just over $10,000. Hands like this one, certainly helped the cause, where thaaxis flopped a set against his opponent’s flopped flush and then filled up on the river to rake in a $2,200 pot.

Wheres the low/micro stakes week 1? :)
Hard to call any of these players “grinders” – as only a few of them have even played more than one average session’s worth of hands this month.
you never know which one of these is Isildur1, i bet he is out there building a bankroll.
