Six Max and Heads Up Rake

Rake AnalysisLast week we looked at the cost per 100 hands for the average player in Full Ring games. We've calculated the same numbers for Six-Max and Heads Up games below. You can also find all of this information in our new rake analysis section including rake statistics for Pot Limit Omaha games.

Six-max is significantly more expensive for each 100 hands you play than full ring. 100 hands of 50NL full ring costs $2.80 on poker stars where 100 hands of 50NL six max costs $4.23. Even though six max games are considered fishier, you must earn 1.5 more big blinds per 100 hands at six-max just to break even at stars 50NL.

Head’s up games seem to fall in two price categories, those that have a special rake cap for HU games and those that do not. Full Tilt and Poker stars heads up games cost half as much as similar other limits due to capping the HU rake at $0.50. If you are playing HU on a site that does not cap those games differently you are paying significantly more than you need too.

Well mention the rake structure properly before anything... A lot of this has to do with the size of the average pot. In fishy games where people like to splash around the size of the pots will be bigger than in reg games, and also more hands get to the flop so rake can be extracted by the poker room. So you might make some softer sites look bad when in fact they are golden.

Also to note that on FT you have the pot button so you can open 3.5x pre instead of just 3x so some pots will get bigger as opposed to for example Stars

    Two things:

    1. Can we see a plot of % winning players vs. rake. Probably a correlation

    2. For everyone that's clamoring for poker legislation in the US, just look at what the French pay to play poker. Holy S***. Let's see how that cuts the number of winning players.

I think you mean 3 big blinds per 100 hands, the BB at 50nl is 50c. And 3bb is HUGELY ABSURD
