The Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC), the licensing body where Full Tilt Poker holds its license, released a statement on Saturday regarding Full Tilt Poker’s overdue licensing fees. The news of the overdue fees became public when they were disclosed during the hearing in London last month, and were reported to be around $410,000. Matin Heslop, who represented Full Tilt Poker at the hearings explained that the reason the fee’s weren’t paid in full related to Full Tilt’s expectation that the AGCC did not have any intention of reinstating it’s license, and didn’t wish to remit payment in vain. Heslop also explained that Full Tilt could pay the fees within seven days if there was a reasonable chance that the license could be reinstated, and with the news of the press release today, that appears to be the case. Bodog announced this morning that it will no longer be offering its suite of online gaming services to the United States market after December 31st, 2011. The news comes just two weeks after the announcement that Bodog had become the first bookmaker to receive both a remote and non-remote gambling license from the UK Gambling Commission under the new regulations that are still to be put into place in the country. Bodog’s current license agreement with Morris Mohawk Gaming is set to expire at the end of 2011, and it would appear that Bodog has no plans of renewing. Read More…

Five weeks of the World Series of Poker are in the books, and the Rio All Suites Hotel and Casino shows all signs pointing to the home stretch as the Main Event is looming. 53 events are in the books with another 11 receiving bracelets this past week. It’s been a roller coaster week of news for Full Tilt Poker, but a light at the end of the tunnel appears to be looming for the once prominent online poker juggernaut. On Wednesday, casino regulators on the British Channel Islands suspended the license of Full Tilt Poker, bringing a complete halt to the company’s online card games and heightening the legal troubles they are facing in the United States. However, a reported sale to European Investors is pending, and may offer a solution that could potentially make withdrawals possible for Full Tilt customers. Read More…

Premier matches have been few and far between since Black Friday. It seems that all of the scandals and uncertainty of online poker have shifted most of the attention from the players to the poker sites themselves. Alas, a great match took place at PokerStars yesterday, with two heavyweights battling at the high-stakes tables once again. Monday’s contest featured Viktor Blom (’Isildur1′) and Ben Sulsky (’Sauce123′) butting heads at the $25/50 PLO tables, Read More…

Week number four at the World Series of Poker has come to a close with another nine bracelets being awarded to first time champions. Through 42 bracelet events in the 2011 WSOP, there have been 42 different winners, leaving only 17 more opportunities for someone to be the first two-time bracelet winner of the year. Since 2001, there has been at least one multiple bracelet winner in every World Series of Poker each year, but time is now running short for someone to match the feat. Read More…

It was the busiest week of the World Series of Poker by far as Week 3 delivered 16 Bracelets to different events. The week was chalk full of broken records, (like the record entries for the Seniors event, which also set the largest single day entry event in WSOP history with 3,752 players), as well as plenty of changes atop the WSOP Player of the Year Leaderboard. Another nine bracelets were awarded this week as the World Series of Poker wrapped its second week. The numbers across the board have been strong as the WSOP is experiencing year over year increases in player participation and tournament prize pools, which is incredible news considering both the events of Black Friday and last year’s impressive turnout. Poker is still on the rise, and with inflated statistics, we’re seeing a number of new names that have received WSOP Gold.
