$10 to infinity and beyond

Discussion about the biggest hands, bad beats, craziest sessions, or anything else involving play on the felt!

The rake is very high at 1/2 and below. You must realize this and keep in mind that most of the time it will be a struggle just to break even. Yes, you heard me - you will STRUGGLE TO BREAK EVEN!

In addition to the rake this is also caused by people calling down too liberally. It's nice to have one fish in the pot every hand but not three, for example. Sure they all lose money EV_wise, but short-term they can really put a ton of beats on you.

I suggest multi-tabling as high a number as you can go and using HUD stats to ensure you don't get too aggressive with one pair hands against loose passives who obviously have something better, and conversely value bet any pair to death against them when they are not being aggressive. This will also ensure you stay out of pots with marginal holdings against other TAGs.

Finally there was a great article on here about online winning players - they seem to have similar session lengths and sizes, usually just 1-3 sessions a day only 50-90 minutes in length. It doesn't do you any good to grind for ten hours in a row. You must take a break every 1,000 hands (which if multi-tabling is usually 60-120 minutes).

The last thing I will say is, have a solid plan on when you will move up or down. Since you are currently at the limits where the money is almost not real, I think you should set a very aggressive move-up strategy, say, anytime you have 150 big bets for the NEXT limit (i.e., have $75 before playing $0.25-0.50), and then move back down if you lose 45-50 big bets, no excuses.

Twice hit my flush but lost to higher flush. It was disgusting. It confirmed my feelings about online poker.

This - now that I am a pretty heavy grinder, I will add that one sees online poker isn't rigged after a while, but it will take a LOT of pressure before coming to that zen-like state of acceptance. It has taken me YEARS to accept it. The one thing to be thankful for is that one is not wasting many years playing live poker before realizing just how bad the loss streaks can be in limit games. The pros are not kidding when they recount tales of running cold for MONTHS at a time, unable to do a thing about it. We are fortunate to be able to play smaller stakes affordably (less rake than casino and no toke) and to play a month's worth of hands in a casino in just a few days online.

This could be successful but not for a hell of a long time. The players that crush LHE have astonishingly brutal down/even stretches...winrates hover at 1.5bb/100 for really solid players at higher levels, rake crushes until 5/10....i'll keep tuned in for the next ten years to see how you make out though. Good luck! (truly no sarcasm, LHE has been the bane of my poker bankroll building attempts--would truly like to see someone succeed)

Low stakes limit hold'em is a waste of time and money. Too much rake.

And online poker is not rigged. The game of poker makes it seem rigged, not websites themselves. If people played the same number of live hands as they do online, they'd see the same "rigged" stuff.

starting with 10 dollars i would be disgusted too.But i learned that your decisions is crucial. The cards are sometimes funny dealt but what can you do. Exploit raises and bet sizes is the best thing at micros

Good luck. It's a very tough grind, I know from experience. Approx. 3 years ago Pokerstars sent me $2 of real money ( I had only been playing "play money"). I have never deposited my own money, I almost always play SHFL hold'em. I tried omaha and NL hold'em almost lost my bankroll. I've played as high as $1-$2. Can you win at micro? yes, but not much. Play within your bankroll is the only way to be long term winner. :!:
