This is the Worst Bad Beat ever - End of Discussion

I'm playing a super turbo on FTP.

I'm in the BB with K-5

It folds around to the button and he limps in. The SB folds and I check.

The flop is: KKK

I flopped quad K's. My only issue is how to get paid off. I check the flop and he checks also

The turn is: A

I'm hoping he hit his A so I bet and he reraises, and I just call.

The river is: A

I bet to put us all in and he calls. He shows: AA

He beats my Quad K's with Quad A's by hitting runner, runner Ace.

I don't think anything can top this.

Seriously though, the only thing I could think of hypothetically worse than that would be a flopped straight flush getting the runner, runner into a royal.

I saw a similar thing offline in a casino. I was out of the hand. One guy had 8 8 and the board was 8 2 2. He flopped a boat. The other guy had A K. He checked into the A K, A K made a big bet and full house guy smooth called.

Turn was another 2 and this time the 8 8 guy checkraised all in. The A K guy donk-called. The river was the case 2 and he lost to the quads/ace kicker.

I think this is exactly the same odds wise as a hand I played recently. I'm playing a sit and go with 4 players remaining and get 5-5 on the button. A super agressive player raises under the gun and I call. Flop comes 3h-5d-5c, he shoves all in and I call (obviously). He had Ad 4d and the turn and river come; 3d and 2d. I would have been chip leader but instead finished with nothing.

These are all bad,m but I think so far my story is the worst. At least the villains in all the other hands had something to call with! This idiot had A K high, air, called, and runner-runnered the poor schmuck who flopped the joint.

Took a beat that was pretty bad the other day. I have AA, i raise preflop, got one caller. Flop comes 77K, check check. Turn, ace. I have a boat full with the 7s. I bet, he reraises, I call. River is a blank, he bets big, I allin, he calls. He has 77. Pretty brutal. Not my worst ever, but brutal nonetheless. How do you fold aces full, when only 1 hand beats you (77)?

Totally irrelevant but my mom wanted me to play on Pogo for her to get a badge in a FL hold-em game ( they use coins for betting which you earn playing games ) and everyone saw a hand with a completed board of
10c-Jc-Qc-Kc-Ac. I lol'd so hard because the cards came out in that exact order and I was still in the hand and one person ended up folding on the river. I know their software isn't even comparable to poker sites and this was years ago as well


edit; i wonder if there is a mathematician that can tell me the odds of that happening

i think part of the discussion about bad beats is not only your hand but consideration to what the other guy had and could likely expect AND how he played it.

So he slowplayed HIS AA just like u did your flopped quads.
Now when he flops KKKAA he is never going anywhere right?
SO, although its definitely sick that he hits A on turn and then worse on river, the point is he was never folding and cant be accused of playing it badly.

In my opinion, the worst beat is a combination of having the highest % chance of winning a hand, PLUS the opposing player making a terrible call or bluff despite the evidence that his hand is all but dead, and then STILL hitting a miracle to beat you.

Here's ONE of mine for you to consider. Its from an end of season final tourney.

I have AA on the button. It is self dealing. I raised pre flop and the BB called leaving himself pretty much committed to the pot. The MORON to my right called as per 100% of hands.

Flop is A85 rainbow. AAA SET BABY!

bb all ins a smallish amount.
Moron calls.
I Hollywood, then overshove my 11K stack.
Moron INSTA CALLS in a heartbeat his 10K for his tourney life.

he shows 22

As the dealer I put a 2 on the turn. Everyone ooohhhs and aahhhs.
I put a 2 for the river and the place goes mental.

One guy said it best to the moron.
He says "You just stood in front of a bus travelling at 100kph, and it hit you.... but you're fine."

Now whats the worse beat? He still had to hit runner quads to beat me. But your guy had AAAKK on turn when he calls. WHat did my guy have?

young player shows his aces to the guy next to him talking a lot of crap.

older player shows jj to player next to him.

on the river a second ace comes.

the kid shows down aa and the guy with the quad jacks mucks his hand.

the guy he showed screams time out. and tells everyone what he had that it is a jackpot.

the cards are dug out of the muck and flipped over but the pit boss rules that since they were mucked the hand is not eligible for the jackpot.

the jackpot was worth about 30,000.
