Player Backstory
Rafi Amit is one of the most successful Israeli professional poker players. Known as 'rafaelamit' on PokerStars, Amit first came into prominence following his first WSOP bracelet in the 2005 event's $10,000 PLO Championship, making headlines on USA Today for being the first player to be penalized at the final table of a WSOP tournament for swearing. In an interview for the newspaper, Amit is famously quoted saying "In Israel, if you're a poker player, it's like you're a drug dealer. My family was like, 'You're losing your money, you're losing your mind.'" His second bracelet came in the 2007 $1,000 Limit Deuce to Seven Triple Draw event, which was remarkable considering he was playing in the PLO Championship event at the same time, running between the two tables.
