Unlike most online poker professionals, Paul started seriously playing before the poker boom, logging most of his hands at New York's famous Mayfair club, which was immortalized in the movie Rounders. He routinely beat a variety of games, everything from mid-stakes Limit Hold'em, to Stud, Hi-Lo, and a wild and deep $5/$10 No Limit game. After a break from playing, he got back into the online game in 2007 and has focused on Limit Hold'em ever since, playing mostly $10/$20 and $15/$30 shorthanded.

He began coaching a year later and has a real talent for teaching after previously running his own martial arts studio. Right now he is working on building a comprehensive Limit Hold'em curriculum at DragTheBar.com, where he is the site's lead Limit Hold'em coach. His videos range from the most basic introductory material to the advanced application of poker theory. He's the author of "Way of the Poker Warrior," and co-author of "Don't Listen to Phil Helmuth," both recently published. He also plays lead guitar in his New York City band, Villain's Lament.
